CLASSROOM
CULTURE
BUILDING RELATIONSHIPS THROUGH SELF-REFLECTION, INTENTIONS, & AGREEMENTS

In this virtual session, teachers began with a self-reflection to identify their assets and challenges when building relationships with students. Then, they set intentions, hopes, and dreams for themselves and their students. Finally, they created sample classroom agreements, consequences, and re-entry strategies to maintain relationships with students, and foster a responsive, SEL-focused classroom culture

Several strategies were suggested to help notice non-responsive language, and to begin rewriting the neural pathways in the brain to replace the old habits.
RESPONSIVE CLASSROOM & THE POWER OF OUR WORDS

In this virtual session, teachers discovered and modeled responsive language (from the Responsive Classroom model) with the goal of creating new neural pathways of communication with their students to create a Responsive Classroom environment. Interactive Modeling was also presented and practiced to start building a vocabulary for common classroom interactions including:
Giving Directions, Reinforcement/Feedback, Reminders/Redirection, Consequences, Conflict/Resolution, Teaching Procedures/Re-Teaching.

TECH
Distance Learning Tools

Tools, Tips, and Tricks for Distance Learning. This presentation utilized PearDeck for virtual audience participation and included an overview of many different online tools, reflection, time to explore and create a useful product for the virtual classroom, and share out in small groups. It concluded with a full group share out of other tools and tips outside of what was included in the presentation.
This was the second iteration of this PD session.

CURRICULUM PLANNING
Elementary Intersectional Framework & Backwards Planning

As leader of the Curriculum Working Group, I was the project manager for the development of an Intersectional Framework for Grades PreK-6 that included intersectional essential questions, social justice standards, and SEL standards. This PD served as the rollout of this framework, as well as the first steps in guiding teachers towards Backwards Planning (UbD) and unit planning.
This presentation utilized PearDeck for virtual audience participation and included reflection, discussion, and work time, as well as planning templates and a drag-and-drop document for teachers to organize their year at-a-glance.

ESL / ELL
Supporting English Language Learners
